Choices…

Choices! Each one of us, at some point in our life or the other, comes across a junction in the path of life. A junction where we have to make a choice. Choose, either ‘this’ or ‘that’. The choice may be a minor one like whether to wear a blue shirt or a red one, or may be a huge one like whether to pick out the medical college prospectus or an engineering college one. But, it does so happen that our choices are what define our lives. It may be true that our destiny is written by the almighty much before we are even born, but we choose the path to get there.
Here I would like to mention a reference to a post in Nishi’s blog (Else here “LICENCE” will come to get me
). Actually, I like the way she has presented the topic of making choices.
I really loved the way “Chaos Theory” is written:
The flapping of a single butterfly’s wing today produces a tiny change in the state of the atmosphere. Over a period of time, what the atmosphere actually does diverges from what it would have done. So, in a month’s time, a tornado that would have devastated the Indonesian coast doesn’t happen. Or maybe one that wasn’t going to happen, does!
A friend of mine once came to me and asked, “Do you think what I did was correct? Was it the right choice?”
I really did not know what answer to give her. Well, I did say something which I did not believe in, but I didn’t know what to answer. It was her choice. It is A CHOICE. It cannot be right or wrong. It is a defining point of your life. It sounds philosophical, I know (I have a reputation for being philosophical), but it is true. Every choice, whatever it may be gives you a certain experience of life, which you may not have got if you did not make that choice. But you do make that choice, and learn something new.
The circumstances you land in when you make a certain choice may be “bad”, or “good”, but you definitely learn something from them. Don’t fret about the choices that you make if things go wrong, or situations are not in your support, just believe that it is a sad chapter in the book of life. There’s nothing called perfect. It is a choice, and it will only help you grow.
For movie watcher, I’d suggest you watch “The Butterfly Effect”. It is a nice movie.
Change ‘da World… contd

I had said in the earlier post about changing the world that I will be back because I had something in my mind and I had to allow it to grow. My thoughts lead me to another movie. (So very expected, ‘coz I am a big time movie maniac).
I take you to the movie, “Evan Almighty”. This is not a very well known movie. It’s ‘predecessor’ is more well known – “BRUCE ALMIGHTY”. This movie revolves around the character of Evan Baxter – the other reporter from “Bruce Almighty”. Here, he enters politics – and becomes a “CONGRESSMAN” – as they say. ‘God’ comes again and makes him a modern day “Noah” and tells him to build an “ARK” as a flood is going to come. The “FLOOD” is actually due to the bursting of a dam built by one of the politicians Evan is working with, and Evan is about to extend his support to the dam construction. The dam is harming ecology, so, God breaks it. Evan ends up saving many lives, and is appreciated, but the point in the movie is not that. What I liked in the movie follows here.
Evan basically enters into politics ‘coz he wants to “Change The World”! That’s also his campaign motto. In the end God comes and tells him that changing the world cannot be done alone, but each one of us has to do our own part, make our own contributions, only then will there be a change in the world. He says, “The changes that you make are in the forms of random acts of kindness that you do towards people”. And the simplest method to bring about changes in the world is to do an “Act of Random Kindness” at a time… Notice anything???
“ARK – Act of Random Kindness”
When Evan sees God for the last time, that’s what God tells him and writes on the ground. I loved the finishing touch given to the movie.
Though the movie was not a big hit, there were a lot of hidden values and virtues in the movie, just like “Bruce Almighty”. There is a part when his family leaves him due to some problems, and God goes to the wife (Without giving his identity as God) and explains to her that when people pray for something, God doesn’t give it to them, but gives them the opportunity to achieve it. The wife had actually prayed for the family to be together ‘coz Evan used to be too busy in his work, now she realizes that she has the opportunity to be with him and she is moving away.
There are a number of lessons in the movie, and I loved it because of that. If you really like to see movies because of the finer intricacies involved… I suggest you don’t miss this one.
